vadmal 
Vadmel or "coarse wool cloth" is a Twill woven fulled fabric. Traditionally it was woven on a warp weighted loom in the nordic countries from the Middle Ages until the 18th century.
The way the fabric was woven and afterwards treated, gave it unique properties that were of great importance, It is wind and waterproof. The cloth was used as sails on Viking boats ,for workers clothing and military uniforms.
The Vadmal had a big rule in the economic back in the days. It was used as a medium of trading and was accepted as currency by some regions. 
Due to it economic importance of, it provided a source of power to women in certain regions. As they were the ones who wove it, they were the ones with the knowledge to distinguish between good and poor quality cloth.
Material: Nm 6/1 in the warp and in the weft.
